Windows Server 2003/R2 – End of Support

Microsoft has announced that Windows Server 2003 will reach “End of Support on 14th of July 2015″.windows2003

What this means for you is if you have any Windows Server 2003 servers supporting your line of business applications you should be considering migrating from these platforms to updated platforms.  In a practical sense the main reasons to expedite this planning are:

  • From 14th July 2015 – Microsoft will no longer offer security updates, support or technical content updates for Windows Server 2003
  • No Security patches and hotfixes  means servers and applications will be vulnerable to security threats and downtime
  • The workloads on these servers will become more expensive to operate
  • Compliance risks may be associated with operating on an unsupported platform

The good news for TrustedCloud customers that operate under our Microsoft SPLA licensing is there are no additional Microsoft Licensing costs to upgrade to the latest Microsoft Server Operating Systems.   If you have any questions relating to the next steps you should take, please contact your account manager or the TrustedCloud Solutions Engineering team to assist.
